Is NRS e-invoicing for my business?

The NRS (formerly FIRS) is bringing VAT-registered businesses onto e-invoicing in phases, by annual turnover. Every invoice must carry an IRN and QR code and be reported to the NRS. Yona does that part for you.

Large businesses

Annual turnover of ₦5 billion or more

Now. The deadline was 31 July 2026.

Medium businesses

₦1 billion to under ₦5 billion

Started on 1 July 2026. Penalties from early 2027.

Emerging businesses

Below ₦1 billion

From 1 July 2027.

As announced by the NRS and reported by KPMG, 18 Feb 2026 and News Agency of Nigeria, 20 Jul 2026. Confirm your own obligations with the NRS or your tax adviser. Read the full guide

Get started

Your first NRS e‑invoice, in three steps.

Everything happens in your browser. Nothing to install, and no developer needed.

  1. 01

Sign up and verify your TIN

Create your account with email, Google or Microsoft, and confirm your business with its TIN.

  2. 02

Choose Elyonar as your Access Point

On the e-invoicing portal of the NRS, select ELYONAR LTD, the licensed company behind Yona. Then click Connect in Yona and upload the key file the portal gives you. Our guide shows every screen.

  3. 03

    Create and send your invoice

Each invoice gets its IRN and QR code, goes to your buyer (straight to their system if they are on the e-invoicing network, otherwise by email or a share link) and is reported to the NRS.

Questions

The short list. Every question we are asked, grouped, is on the FAQ page.

How do I get started?

Sign up at app.useyona.com, verify your business, and select Elyonar as your Access Point on the taxpayer portal of the NRS. Yona detects it and turns invoicing on. You can try every step on the sandbox first.

Do I need a developer?

No. The Yona app covers the whole flow without code. If you have your own software, connect it through the API, the SDK or the MCP server.

Can I try it first?

Yes. Practise for free with test invoices, using free test credits. They go through the same steps as real invoices but are sent to the test system of the NRS, so they have no legal effect.

How do I connect my business through Yona?

Enable e-invoicing on the taxpayer portal of the NRS and select Elyonar as your Access Point. Yona detects it and turns on invoicing for you.

What is an Access Point Provider?

A company licensed to connect taxpayers to the e-invoicing network run by the NRS. It signs, transmits and receives invoices on their behalf. Elyonar is one, and Yona is its product.

How does pricing work?

Choose a plan by how many invoices you send each month. Starter, Growth and Pro each include a set number of invoices, with reporting to the NRS, the IRN and the QR code included, and their monthly credits pay only for extras. If you would rather pay per action, credit plans grant credits every month instead. Larger organisations can agree an Enterprise plan with us. You can practise in the sandbox for free first. The plans on the site are read from our billing system, so they are always the current ones.
